TST Group acquires Heathrow-based GCS Logistics

TST Group acquires Heathrow-based GCS Logistics, expanding specialist capability and accelerating UK & Ireland growth

TST Group, the Northern Ireland-headquartered logistics and supply chain specialist, has announced the acquisition of GCS Logistics, the Heathrow-based logistics specialist with expertise in UK – Ireland express distribution, white-glove services and complex technical logistics.

The acquisition marks another significant milestone in TST Group’s long-term growth strategy, strengthening its presence across the UK while creating a broader, fully integrated logistics offering for customers throughout the UK and Ireland. “This is about creating greater value for our customers,” said Liam Reid, Chief Executive Officer of TST Group.

By combining the complementary strengths of both businesses, TST Group will offer customers an end-to-end logistics solution spanning international freight forwarding, customs clearance, warehousing, UK and Ireland distribution, specialist white glove logistics, technical installations and final point-of-use delivery. Existing GCS customers will now benefit from access to TST Group’s nationwide transport, warehousing, customs and groupage network, while TST Group customers gain immediate access to GCS’s expertise in technical logistics, secure storage, project-managed installations, specialist vehicles, European white glove solutions and supply chain consultancy. “This is the natural progression of a relationship we have valued for many years,” said Maire Claire Reid, Managing Director of TST Group.

Located at London Heathrow, the UK’s principal gateway for international air freight, GCS Logistics gives TST Group a strategically important operational base at the heart of global trade. Holding both Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) status and FORS Silver accreditation, GCS is recognised for its commitment to customs compliance, fleet safety, operational excellence and consistently high service standards.

The acquisition builds on a successful relationship developed over many years. Through long-standing collaboration, TST Group gained first-hand knowledge of GCS’s people, customer-focused culture, operational standards and specialist expertise, making the business a natural strategic fit. “For many of us, these are not new relationships,” said Shaun Reid, Group Operations Director of TST Group.

Founded in 2004, GCS Logistics has earned the trust of leading organisations across healthcare, technology, financial services, infrastructure, retail and eCommerce. Operating through Global Complete Solutions and Global Cargo Services, the business delivers complex logistics solutions in which precision, compliance, reliability, and careful handling are critical.

Its services include international freight forwarding, UK and Ireland distribution, technical logistics, secure warehousing, project management, specialist vehicles, supply chain solutions, white glove delivery and point-of-use installation for high-value, fragile and mission-critical equipment.

For TST Group, the acquisition complements the Midlands footprint established through the acquisition of Warley Carriers in 2021 and adds a strategic Heathrow operation that significantly enhances its national network. More importantly, it broadens the Group’s specialist capabilities, enabling customers to access international freight, customs, warehousing, transport, technical handling, installation and final delivery through a single trusted logistics partner.

TST Group will continue to operate GCS Logistics from Heathrow while bringing together the experience, infrastructure and specialist knowledge of both organisations. Customers of both businesses will benefit from expanded geographic coverage, greater service choice and a wider portfolio of integrated logistics solutions across the UK, Ireland and Europe.

“This acquisition reflects the disciplined and considered approach we take to growth. Because of our long-standing relationship with GCS Logistics, we understood the business, its people and its potential long before acquisition discussions began. That confidence made this an excellent strategic fit. By combining the strengths of both organisations, we are creating a stronger platform for sustainable growth while expanding the range of specialist services available to customers across the UK and Ireland.” – Conor Kelly, Finance Director, TST Group.

TST Group was assisted in the transaction by Michael McAllister of ASM Chartered Accountants and Glenn Watterson of Mills Selig Solicitors.
