We have taken delivery of the first of a batch of new Actros trucks from Mercedes Benz Truck & Van NI as part of our ongoing commitment to operating a top quality fleet. This is first of 20 new trucks to be delivered over the next 3 months, all of which will come with Houston’s Coachworks bodies.
These vehicles are being branded with our new ‘TST Express‘ livery and will be used to provide our express overnight groupage service between GB and Ireland.
In November last year, TST Group acquired long-established West Midlands-based Warley Carriers. This strategic move further strengthened our position in Irish Sea distribution. Prior to the acquisition, we were the market leader in express, full load transportation between mainland UK and Ireland. With Warley Carriers within the TST Group, we can now offer express overnight groupage shipments as well.

The 19th annual Export & Freight Transport & Logistics Awards took place on 15th September and TST Group was honoured to be shortlisted as a finalist in two categories: National/International Haulier of the Year and Top Fleet of the Year.
The National/International Haulier of the Year award is awarded to any fleet of more than 20 vehicles that operates under a standard operator’s licence and that can demonstrate “the highest levels of up to date knowledge, professionalism and high quality service to their respective customer base”.
In our entry we highlighted that our acquisition of Warley Carriers last year was a particular milestone in our company’s history. This has brought with it a refreshed business strategy, better resource planning and significant investment. The enhanced service range, expanded team and improved management structure, combined with our modern, reliable fleet, means our knowledge, professionalism and quality of service has never been higher.
The Top Fleet of the Year award recognises a fleet with outstanding “appearance, quality, maintenance programmes, driver efficiency, skill and professionalism”. In our entry for this category we demonstrated how we take great pride in our fleet and invest heavily in having the latest models to ensure comfort for our drivers and reliability for our customers.

TST Group is pleased to announce its recent acquisition of West Midlands based Warley Carriers.
On Friday 11th November, TST Group completed the acquisition of Warley Carriers, a business best known for its involvement in the distribution of automotive parts for car, tyre, motorcycle, commercial vehicle and agricultural machinery manufacturers.
This acquisition will further strengthen TST Group’s position in Irish Sea distribution. TST Group is already the market leader in express, full load transportation between mainland UK and Ireland. With Warley Carriers within the TST Group, the company can now offer express overnight groupage shipments as well. Warley Carriers has also been a shareholder in the Pallet-Network since 2017 and this will remain as part of the arrangement.
TST Group is a well-established, award-winning transport and logistics company, which was founded by Liam, Shaun, Maire-Claire and the late John Reid and remains family run.
Liam Reid of TST Group explained: “Our relationship with Warley Carriers goes back more than 25 years so we know what an excellent business it is. We know the values and culture that a family led business brings, being family owned and run ourselves, and the fact that Warley has been successfully operating for almost 50 years is a big appeal for us.”
Maire Claire Reid added: “This acquisition is a ‘win-win’ for TST and our customers. As well as allowing us to offer an even broader range of services to both our clients and Warleys’, we hope it will also bring greater efficiencies. We could not be more pleased to be bringing the Warley team, facilities and assets under the TST umbrella.”
Gerry Kibble from Warley Carriers had this to say: “We are delighted to be joining the TST Group and look forward to the new opportunities that it will bring. We would like to extend our thanks to all of our customers for their support and loyalty over the last 50 years as we look ahead to the future alongside our new colleagues in Ballymena”.
The acquisition brings the total fleet to more than 100 and the combined staff to around 250. With TST Group’s headquarters in County Antrim, and Warley Carriers being based within 10 miles of both the M5 and M6 motorways, TST Group now has two strong, central locations on both sides of the Irish Sea.

TST Group has teamed up with Mid and East Antrim Borough Council to deliver a HGV Driver’s Academy in an attempt to combat job shortages in the haulage sector and boost employment. The academy will see 18 applicants provided with the required training to enable them to gain a Category C (Class 2) licence and will also offer career support to apply for vacancies.
Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Cllr William McCaughey said:
“We were overwhelmed with applications to take part in this academy, showing the hunger for training and development within the borough. The sector has been struggling to secure drivers across the UK and this will certainly help haulage firms to increase services that are essential, allowing other businesses to succeed. It also helps boost our local economy here by upskilling candidates to embark on a new career.
“I’d like to thank all those who applied and Workforce Training Services, McBurney Transport and TST Group for participating in the selection process. Council is committed to creating a borough of opportunity and this will certainly help not only the business sector, but families across Mid and East Antrim.”
The transport and logistics sector is strategically important to Mid and East Antrim Borough in facilitating trade and wider economic activity, and the training programme will support Council’s ongoing commitment to creating sustainable and prosperous employment in the borough.
Maire-Claire Reid of TST Group added:
“The current driver shortage is well documented and its impacts on the wider economy are becoming more evident so it is great to see local transport companies coming together, alongside Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, to provide exciting opportunities within the transport industry. “These opportunities will generate well paid, long term sustainable employment whilst giving the chosen candidates an opportunity to retrain for a new role.”
Employers based within the Mid and East Antrim Borough Council area who anticipate recruiting drivers in the coming months and are interested in finding our more about the Academy should contact:
